Note From the School Nurse

Parents –

It’s the end of the school year already … please remember, you must come in and pick up students unused medication prior to the end of the last day of school.  If you need to send any medication in now, send only the amount needed for the remainder of this school year.

And, before you know it, the first day of the 2014-2015 school will be here.  If your student requires routine or PRN meds to be given/kept at school, we need a signed doctor’s order.
Remember to schedule your student’s doctor appointments soon as all new orders need to be in place prior to the start of the upcoming school year.  Medications cannot be given and treatments may not be administered without an order signed by the doctor and you.

All forms for the upcoming school year are available now on the Oak Hills Nurse website (Click here to view website.)

Have a happy and safe summer!

Final Exam Schedule

Hard to believe but Freshman year is quickly drawing to a close … and, final exams are right around the cornerClick here to review the exam schedule.

A couple notes about exam days:

  • The exam for Bell 1 will occur on June 3rd during an extended bell.  This is a full day of school.
  • Exams for Bell 2 thru 7 will occur June 4th thru June 6th per the exam scheduleThese are NOT full school days.  Your student need only attend school at the time that he or she has exams scheduled.  Attendance will be taken on a bell-by-bell basis.
  • June 9 is an exam make-up day.  If your student does not need to make-up an exam (which should be first coordinated with the respective teacher(s)), then he/she is not required to attend school.

Global Awareness Day: Stereotyping

Global Awareness Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

This is a day, requested by the Oak Hills student body, where students will investigate their place in the world, communicate their role in it, recognize diverse perspectives of a common topic and take action to improve society.

On this day, Oak Hills students will be focusing on the topic of stereotyping.  They will do this through a variety of different activities.  Many of these activities and discussions will be led by Oak Hills student leaders.  Some of the major activities for the day include:

  • Interpreting the film The Great Match,
  • Interacting with a community motivational speaker on stereotyping,
  • Creating anti-stereotyping propaganda for the 2014-15 school year, and
  • Communicating with a diverse audience about stereotyping within the Oak Hills building

Stereotyping, and the result of it, is a pertinent topic for today’s youth, one which cannot be ignored in an environment that wishes to improve.  Join in the day’s activities by taking a few minutes next Tuesday evening to discuss Global Awareness Day and stereotyping with your student …

Dress Code

Please remind your students to follow the dress code!

With the warm weather approaching, shorts and tank tops start to appear.  Shorts that do not reach a minimum of fingertips length are in violation.  Tank tops and cleavage are not acceptable either.

If your student is in violation of the dress code, they will have to remain in SIT for the day until appropriate clothing arrives.
